Behind Allégret's rather pragmatic, hardheaded exterior (mentioned in the previous chapter), she is an adventurer and a risk-taker at heart. Her cool, conservative manner masks a much more fiery core.
She is a person who thrives on challenge, and she often feels that she must battle her way through life, relying on no one and nothing but her own strength, intelligence and courage. Catherine Allégret believes in being totally honest, true to herself and her own vision and convictions, even if it means standing alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor and authenticity are Allégret's gods, and she has no sympathy for weakness of character in others.
Catherine Allégret craves the freedom to do things in her own way, and she works very well independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not her style. Catherine likes to be the chief - or to go it alone.
Catherine Allégret loves action and if others are settling down into a nice, comfortable little rut, then she is always ready to stir things up, do something new, make changes and introduce some fresh blood. Routine and sameness are tantamount to death for her. She is not afraid of trying something that has never been done before, and even though she may sometimes be perceived as a fool, Catherine Allégret also discovers, invents and initiates things that others will later emulate. Taking risks and following her own star are the breath of life for Allégret, and she wilts (or gets very frustrated and angry) if she cannot do this.
She is spontaneous, impulsive, direct, enthusiastic and assertive. Catherine Allégret believes in the power of positive thinking and positive action, and she perceives herself as a strong, even invincible, person. Catherine Allégret hates being ill or in a position of dependency. Accepting her own human limitations and emotional needs is often difficult for her.
She is basically aggressive in her attitudes and less adept at relating to others, picking up on subtle messages and nuances, listening, nurturing and harmonizing. She is often so fired up about her own projects or goals that she inadvertently runs over or ignores other people's feelings and interests. Being receptive and appreciative of others' contributions, ideas and feelings would be highly instrumental in improving Allégret's relationships. Her impatience to get on with things causes Catherine Allégret to be rather insensitive, thereby alienating others unnecessarily. She also frequently tries to accomplish her goals through anger or temper tantrums. Catherine Allégret would gain much by learning to slow down, relax and sometimes just let things be, however her energetic, restless nature rarely allows Catherine Allégret to do so.
Ownership gives Catherine Allégret a sense of security, and she has a strong attachment to her possessions. Catherine also has a natural instinct or understanding of economics, finance, trade, and appraising the value of merchandise.
Her conscious intentions and goals are frequently opposed by her unconscious beliefs and desires. If Catherine Allégret overrides her instincts and emotions because they seem to lead her in a direction diametrically opposed to the one she consciously desires, her emotions can become unruly. Poor relationships with women and/or difficulties in close one-on-one relationships are also a reflection of this tendency. However, if Catherine Allégret attends to her emotional urges and feelings and listens to the voice of her intuition, dreams and gut feelings, she will derive greater satisfaction from a more balanced life.
She is direct, energetic, sometimes aggressive and combative. Catherine Allégret often feels that she needs to fight to get what she wants, and she tends to have a "me-first" attitude that angers or irritates others. She is hasty, restless, impatient and sometimes reckless.
Catherine Allégret aims high, dreams big, and has a tremendous sense of what she is capable of achieving. Overconfidence, grandiosity, lack of humility and/or extreme discontent in modest circumstances may be her faults. Generally, however, Allégret's great expectations and enterprising spirit lead to success. Business, especially when there is an element of risk and speculation involved, is ideally suited to Catherine.
She is a bit impulsive and excitable and wants things done quickly. Catherine Allégret tends to be very impatient with anyone who is slower or less energetic than she is. Allégret will fight for what she wants but should guard against mishaps or accidents.
