Because Crown Princess Masako seems to be such a gentle, tolerant, accepting person (as mentioned in the previous chapter), she can startle people with some of her very pointed, bluntly honest statements. Even though she is sensitive and empathetic, she can also be quite tactless at times. Her good will and good intentions, however, usually prevail.
